  • Precipitated silica
  • Fumed silica

Evonik offers different matting agents for the paints & coatings industry, which have carried the ACEMATT® brand since 1995.

Please note that ACEMATT® is not suitable for use in cosmetics including nail polish.

Please find below our recommended product range for the paints & coatings industry.

ACEMATT® HK 125

An economical, all-purpose matting agent with a heterogeneous particle distribution.

Average agglomerate particle size: 10.5 μm d50 (laser diffraction)

For pigmented coatings, particularly coil coating systems, and for wood and industrial varnishes. The heterogeneous particle size distribution permits low gloss values at observation angles of 85°.

ACEMATT® HK 400

An all-purpose, untreated matting agent with a particle size range similar to ACEMATT® OK 412.

Average agglomerate particle size: 6.3 μm d50 (laser diffraction)

For applications that do not require organic surface treatment.

ACEMATT® HK 440

A new, highly efficient and untreated matting agent.

Average agglomerate particle size: 14.5 μm d50 (laser diffraction)

esigned specifically for coatings with a low gloss-to-sheen ratio, e.g. coil coating systems, roof coatings and alkyd varnishes.

ACEMATT® HK 450

An untreated matting agent.

Average agglomerate particle size: 10.4 μm d50 (laser diffraction)

This highly efficient matting agent is particularly suitable for systems with a low gloss-to-sheen ratio, e.g. coil coatings.

ACEMATT® HK 460

An untreated matting agent.

Average agglomerate particle size: 7.3 μm d50 (laser diffraction)

High matting efficiency combined with high surface smoothness for universal applicability.

ACEMATT® OK 412 and ACEMATT® OK 500

Easily dispersible, organically aftertreated all-purpose matting agents.

Average agglomerate particle size: 6.3 μm d50 (laser diffraction)

Ensures high-quality coating film surfaces with outstanding surface smoothness, even in pigmented systems. As a result of its outstanding suspension behavior, it is particularly suitable for clearcoats. ACEMATT® OK 500 is the recommended alternative for formulations in which ACEMATT® OK 412 could cause drying delays.

ACEMATT® OK 412 LC

An easily dispersible, organically aftertreated matting agent with low conductivity.

Average agglomerate particle size: 6.3 μm d50 (laser diffraction)

The combination of very low conductivity compared to other precipitated silica and organic aftertreatment makes ACEMATT® OK 412 an outstanding functional extender for use in electrodeposition coatings.

ACEMATT® OK 520

An easily dispersible, organically aftertreated all-purpose matting agent.

Average agglomerate particle size: 6.5 μm d50 (laser diffraction)

Same array of properties as ACEMATT® OK 412/ACEMATT® OK 500. In addition, due to the specific precipitation process, OK 520 delivers higher transparency, particularly in PU coatings. Coating films matted with ACEMATT® OK 520 feature high chemical resistance.

ACEMATT® OK 607

An easily dispersible, organically aftertreated matting agent with very low average particle size.

Average agglomerate particle size: 4.4 μm d50 (laser diffraction)

Though generally similar to ACEMATT® OK 412, the main distinction comes from the very small particle size and resulting extremely high surface smoothness and distinct sheen behavior. Compared to ACEMATT® OK 412, ACEMATT® OK 500 and ACEMATT® OK 520, OK 607 ensures a high gloss value at an 85° observation angle. Destined for thin-layer systems with an outstanding surface finish, OK 607 is also eminently suitable for aqueous coating systems where a larger particle size would otherwise result in a rougher finish. The unique production process ensures a low degree of surface coating, thus maintaining the positive properties of ACEMATT® OK products while precluding any negative impact on intercoat adhesion.
