Gravure inks

Application areas

The printing parts are engraved into a printing form made out of metal. The engraved cells carry the printing ink. Size and shape of the cells are responsible for the amount of ink that is being transferred to the substrate. Characteristic is the (rather low) viscosity of the ink which has to be adjusted due to the size and form of the engraved cells in the cylinder. Advantages are the high circulation speed and the high quality, (the disadvantage is the slow and expensive production of the printing plate).

Special gravure processes are being used High Performance Packaging and Publications.
